Find the command behind the notation

Search by command, visible character, name or category. For example, alpha finds \alpha, subset finds set relations, and arrow finds named arrows. Categories narrow the same shared catalog used by MathTexLab’s Equation Editor. The collection includes complete templates such as fractions, matrices and limits as well as individual symbols.

  1. Inspect the preview. Every preview is generated with the editor’s actual base and AMS MathJax configuration during the site build, not approximated with an unrelated font.
  2. Copy the command. Copy command includes the snippet’s complete arguments and any trailing space that separates a named command from subsequent letters. Replace example arguments such as a, b and x with your own expression.
  3. Try it in the editor. Open in editor shows the selected expression and asks before loading it. Keep your current equation, or load the symbol and use Undo to restore your previous source.

In a LaTeX document, these are mathematical commands: put them inside inline or display math. Some use AMS notation and require \usepackage{amsmath,amssymb} in the document preamble. Capitalization matters: \gamma and \Gamma are different. MathJax support is not a claim that every LaTeX package or document command works here.

The symbols and operators guide explains spacing, grouping and notation choices. For structured expressions, try the Matrix Generator or read the fraction guide. This library finds commands; the guides explain when and how to combine them.

Practical details

Search and category choices are stored in this page’s URL so you can bookmark a filtered collection. No private equation source is added to that URL. A link to the editor carries only a fixed catalog identifier. Copy requires browser clipboard support; every command remains selectable as ordinary text. With JavaScript disabled, the complete categorized command collection and its rendered previews remain available.

This is a curated reference, not an exhaustive LaTeX package catalog. Missing commands are not represented as supported. Arrows, integrals and matrices are typeset without evaluating their mathematical meaning. For package-specific support, consult the MathJax command index.
