Privacy Policy
What this version of MathTexLab stores, and what stays on your device.
Equations and files
Rendering, image generation and PDF generation run in your browser. The application does not upload your equation to a rendering service or keep an equation database. Downloads are created locally. Clipboard data is written only when you choose a Copy action; the application does not request clipboard-read access. Matrix and table paste read only the text you explicitly paste into a focused cell.
Fraction builder data
The Fraction Generator stores its numerator, denominator and fraction style
in mathtexlab-fraction-v1 in local storage. It has no automatic
expiry. Forget saved fraction removes that copy and pauses saving for this
visit; the current fields remain in memory. Undo history lasts only for this
visit. The same editor-handoff session record described below can also stage
a fraction, with the same ten-minute import validity check and explicit
Load/Keep choice. No private fraction source is placed in a URL or uploaded.
Symbols reference
The Symbols Library keeps search and category choices in its page URL so a filtered collection can be bookmarked. These terms are part of the ordinary URL visible to your browser and hosting provider. Editor links carry a fixed public catalog identifier, not your saved equation. The library adds no local storage key.
Table builder data
The Table Generator stores one table in mathtexlab-table-v1 in
local storage, including hidden cells, column alignment, header, lines,
caption and label. It saves after a short delay and on leaving the page when
browser storage is available. The draft has no automatic expiry. Forget
saved table removes it and pauses saving for this visit; current cells
remain in memory. Undo history lasts only for the visit. Other tabs use the
last successful write. Table data and generated downloads are processed
locally, with no table upload or formula evaluation.
Your local draft
When browser storage is available, MathTexLab saves one current equation
plus font size, color, math style, transparency settings in local storage
under the retained compatibility key formula-draft-v1. The
saved copy has no automatic expiry and remains until it is overwritten,
removed with Forget saved draft, or cleared through your browser settings.
It is not an encrypted backup or a cloud copy.
Forget saved draft removes that saved entry and pauses automatic saving for the current session. Your open equation remains on screen. You can resume saving with Resume local saving; a later visit also enables automatic saving again. Separate tabs can overwrite the same saved draft.
The site also stores your System, Light or Dark theme choice under
mathtexlab-theme. System follows your device preference. This
preference is separate from the equation draft; clearing a saved draft does
not remove the site theme.
Matrix builder and editor handoff
The matrix generator saves one matrix under
mathtexlab-matrix-v1 in local storage, including dimensions,
bracket style and cell values. Hidden cells within its 12 × 12 backing grid
are retained when you shrink the visible dimensions. The saved matrix has no
automatic expiry; it remains until overwritten, removed with Forget saved
matrix, or cleared in browser settings. That control pauses saving for this
visit and leaves your open grid intact. Undo history exists only in memory
for the current page visit. Matrix export appearance settings are not saved.
Open in Equation Editor temporarily stages the generated expression under
mathtexlab-editor-handoff-v1 in same-tab session storage. The
editor consumes and removes the staged record on arrival, asks before
replacing source, and rejects staged records older than ten minutes. If
navigation is interrupted, the record can remain until consumed, cleared or
the tab session ends; expiry validation is not a background deletion timer.
No equation source is added to the handoff URL. Matrix data and the equation
editor draft use separate keys. Local storage is tied to this browser and
origin, not a cloud account.
Changing language
Language links keep the current tool and use a temporary same-tab session
record under mathtexlab-language-transfer-v1 to carry your open
work, including when local saving is paused. The destination consumes and
removes that record and accepts it only for the intended page within one
minute. If navigation is interrupted, it can remain until replaced, consumed
or the tab session ends; the time check is not a background deletion timer.
Tool drafts and theme settings use the same keys across languages. No
equation source is put into the language URL. We do not detect your location
or send text to a translation service.
Network requests and third parties
Your browser requests the website’s files from the server hosting it. That host may process IP addresses, request times and other ordinary access-log data; hosting-specific retention has not yet been established for a public deployment. The application bundles its math renderer and fonts locally and adds no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
Contacting us
If you choose to email the supplied, currently unverified address contact@mathtexlab.com, the message and email address pass through your email provider and the recipient’s email service. Avoid sending confidential equations, credentials or personal data in a bug report. Email retention is handled separately from the browser draft and has no published fixed schedule.
This notice describes the current implementation. It has not been legally reviewed. Hosting and any future data services must be reflected here before public launch or introduction.
